Wedding Dress Inspired Wedding Invitation Designs Continued

written by Isabella - Wednesday, January 25, 2012

A continuation of Wedding Dress Inspired Wedding Invitation Designs, we bring you more invite designs that are reminiscent of the beautiful wedding dress the bride will wear down the aisle. Previously, we highlighted designs of wedding invitations such as brocade, floral accents and lace borders, with options made available by DreamDay Invitations that fits the bill. In this article, we do the same with the likes of ornate designs, pleats and line designs, damask, as well as black styles and a mixture of designs that can go well together.

Ornate Designs are generally considered intricate, with complex patterns or are heavily ornamented. If you are planning a rather luxurious wedding, then this is the best fit for you and your wedding dress inspired wedding invite. The likes of Embossed Wedding Dance hold two designs, one that is embossed whilst the other intricate design is found in silver. Another example offered by DreamDay Invitations is Vogue, which has an intricate and ornate design in its border.

Damask is considered an ornate design by default but has a distinct shape and pattern, which clearly sets it apart. This rich design and pattern is usually found in fabric and is a superb choice of design that can be found in a lace wedding dress. Wedding invitation design includes the likes of Crown Damask and Heirloom Pride.

Mixture of Designs is quite trendy nowadays, where you mix varying designs together to bring a great balance of fusion. One such example is through Silk Cascade where elements of stripes and damask fuse to a great balance.

Intricate Glimmer is also seen in wedding dresses where you take an element of sparkle and infuse it into your dress design for a touch of pizzazz. You can carry that forward in your wedding invite with foil printing such as that done in Grand Caress.

Pleats and Lines are essentially stripes, with depth and highlights. You can accessorise with items such as pearls and beads to form the pattern, which has been used on your dress. An example of such a wedding invite with accents of pearls included in the design is Ageless Treasure by DreamDay Invitations.

Black has quickly become a favourite for brides, using it as a great way to add a contrast piece or element to their wonderful wedding dress. Like so, you can do the same by adding such accents such as in Timeless Tulle.

These are all ways in which you can draw inspiration from your wedding dress and reflect it on your wedding invitation. However, it is important to have found your wedding dress before you get started on your invites if you want it to be so.

Intricate Designs & Typography Choices for your Wedding Invitations

written by Isabella - Wednesday, January 18, 2012

The most important day of your life is approaching. Yes, you are getting married, and it is a day you will remember for the rest of your life. So, why shouldn’t you make that one special day memorable in so many ways.  You can do so by making your wedding invitations beautiful with the help of intricate designs and choice of typography you use on the invitation design.

Some people say that simple and wild, being two contrasts, will go well together, and I agree. There are ways in which you can make a design, whether it is for the wedding invitations, to the Save the Date cards and other wedding stationery really beautiful, by using both styles in a harmonious balance that you end up with a masterpiece.

Let us say you have chosen an intricate design, such as filigree as the design element that will be used throughout the wedding, from the save the date cards to the wedding invitations and then the wedding stationery on the big day itself. The way you keep to the style itself is by adding text in a typography that is elegant and neat, because the filigree design will take up the border while the clean text will balance the equilibrium perfectly.  Likewise, if you opt for a simple design, such as that of a striped border, or even a chevron design with smooth and clean lines, you could opt for a font facing that is elaborate and whimsical. Even with no design, on a blank canvas, you can do the same thing, and let the text typography of your wedding invitation convey the story.

Wedding design elements usually include vector drawings especially if you are opting for intricate ones. The styles itself will be dependent on the theme you have chosen, from the likes of retro to floral, vintage that can include Roman, Grecian, Romanesque, baroque and so much more. Damask, filigree, toile are also favourites, but we should not forget simplistic designs such as chevron, polka dots, lines or stripes and so forth. The font you use, or rather the typography were once limited to serif and san serif. With san serif, you open a door to many possibilities, once being script, which has many faces and styles that are linked to calligraphy. Calligraphy plays a big role in wedding invitations along with typography, and your choice of style can actually set the tone of your wedding, from fun and casual to formal but fun. Try out several samples of wedding invitation design to visually decide on what you want before you order your wedding invites, to be on the safe side.

Wedding Invitations and Inviting Who’s Who

written by Isabella - Friday, December 9, 2011

One of the hardest things to do is figuring out whom to invite for your wedding day and then sending those wedding invitations. In this installation of Wedding Invitations Ideas, we will be featuring people whom you have to invite and those whom you can opt out of with due reason. This might make your guest list-deciding factor an easier task. Firstly, you have your must have attendees on your big day.

Family – Your immediate family is anyway a given. The first thing anyone does when taking into account family event is count your own family in the list of invitees. You need not send your family wedding invitations, but count them within your guest list. This way you can save a little on your budget.

Relatives – Your extended family is necessary, and it is common courtesy to invite them. If you opt out to invite them, you might face issues later on and you could do without the agony of it all, so make sure to not leave anyone out.

Close Friends – Your closest friends might have been there for you and with you through thick and thin, therefore you might not see yourself getting married without them present.

Figuring out whom to invite and sending out your wedding invitation is tough mainly because you have a budget and a maximum number of guests allowed at your venue, and trying to fit your loved ones into that list can be a daunting affair. So let us figure out how we can make this wedding planning task easier. Here we are listing down some guest probabilities you can opt out of and optimize your wedding budget.

Childhood Friends – you may have made wedding plans ever since you were small and promised them they  will be at your wedding, but if you haven’t seen them in ages and have not kept in touch or vice versa you might want to give preference to others. Who knows if your old friends even remember this pact? Choose wisely, a guest list is precious.

Second Cousins – Your extended family does not always include your second or third cousins, and if you do not even know them, it is okay for you not to reserve space for them in your wedding guest list. You can save your wedding invitation for somebody else.

Great Aunts and Uncles – The same consideration that applies to your second cousins applies here as well. If you do not know them, and they do not know you, then it’s a wedding invitation saved.

Kids – Kids are not the always fans of long boring yet romantic events such as weddings and may cause some commotion or another during your vows. It might be awkward. Therefore, if you want a mess free and upbeat wedding, you can opt not to have kids at the wedding. It is up to you.

Non-mutual Friends – When you are going out, you always had your own friends, but sometimes those circles combine between yours and your fiancé’s, and you tend to hang out with them more than you do with people who aren’t. You can figure out whether you want to invite your non-mutual friends to your wedding, but only if you want to.

Non-So-Friendly Friends – Everyone has that friend who is not always friendly and gets on your nerve or on your fiancé’s nerve. It is true, it happens, and this could cause a dent in the happiest day of your lives. So, think carefully whether you would want someone like so at the biggest event of your lives.

Exes – if you do have exes, you might want to save them the awkward moments of seeing their former lovers walking down the aisle with somebody other than them. If you are on good terms with them, then it might not be an issue, but as a rule of thumb, exes do not always make the wedding guest list cut.

Friend’s Families – your friends are your family, some would say, but when it comes to their own families, they may not have made a huge impact in your life and they would not make a fuss if they were not invited. If these friend’s families have acted like your own family, then they are your extended family and an invite may be the best way to go about it.

Co-workers – many people debate on whether you should mix business with pleasure, or bring your work home. So, in the same way, decide whether you would want to include your work friends in your personal life and on your big day.

Neighbours – some of us have neighbourly neighbours and some of us do not. Figure out whether you would want your neighbours there and make your guest lists with them as the last on your list.

Once you have figured out your guest list for the big day, head out to the wedding invitations, figure out your designs, and start ordering the best wedding invitation out there. It is your special day, go BIG!

The Don’ts of Wedding Invitations

written by Isabella - Tuesday, November 29, 2011

In last week’s article of Wedding Invitation Ideas – “The Do’s of Wedding Invitations”, we brought you insight into what you should keep in mind when planning and designing your wedding invitations. In this week’s instalment, we bring you what you should not do when it comes to wedding invitations, and points to be mindful or have noted.

  1. Don’t Include Too Much Information On The Invite:  Your wedding invitation should be short and concise, whilst providing all the necessary information. Things that you should always include in the wedding invite are the date and time of the ceremony and the reception, the venue, invitees, the RSVP details, and dress code.
  2. Don’t Forget To Use Inserts Maps: While accommodations and directions information is not always mandatory, your guests will appreciate it. Therefore, its considered polite and a nice gesture to ensure that guests will be given options of accommodation if they are coming out of town, and directions to get to the venue.
  3. Don’t Include Registry Or Gift Information: Including registry or gift information on the wedding invitations itself is somewhat ‘tacky’ and not elegant and classy, which is what an wedding invite should be. , the best place to include that kind of information is with the shower invite
  4. Don’t Have A Standby Guest List: It’s generally considered  rude to have a secondary guest list, in the event a number of people RSVP back with their regrets. Since the wedding invitations for that crowd will have to be sent out after the RSVPs are received, in this case the standby guest list invitees will be notified or note that they are last minute slots.
  5. Don’t Use Labels On Envelopes: Pasting on printed labels can be the opposite of elegant. After putting in so much time and effort into the wedding invitation, it would be a waste to make it less elegant with a printed white envelope label. It is best to handwrite them, or simply have them printed on the envelope itself, as DreamDay Invitations does on all their envelopes.
  6. Don’t Write Anything On The Envelopes Once It Is Sealed: Sealing the envelopes and then later handwriting the address information might make the whole writing experience and quality of the handwriting deter drastically. Therefore, handwrite the address information prior to sealing the wedding invitation envelope. If you opt to have the information printed onto the envelope as DreamDay Invitations does, then this will not be a problem.
  7. Don’t Email Any Information: Though some consider it a good idea to send the save the date information via email, it lessens the effect of sending out a wedding invitation itself. When it comes to the wedding invite information, please opt out of emailing invitees the details.
  8. Don’t Forget To Include The Dress Code: many people don’t think too much about the dress code, but it’s very important to include this information, for either the bridal couple to ensure everyone is appropriately dressed so that their wedding pictures come out well and also for the invitee to not feel conscious of themselves they are not dressed accordingly.
  9. Don’t Use Too Many Abbreviations: The use of abbreviations is related to wedding invitation etiquette. Unless it is the likes of Mr., Mrs., Dr and Jnr., you should limit the use of abbreviations. The article on Wedding Invitation Etiquette will offer you more insight on what you should keep in mind.

The Dos of Wedding Invitations

written by Isabella - Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Some say weddings are considered some of the best organised events that happen on a regular basis, and making sure that things continue to be so, many wedding specialists have noted certain things you should do and also certain things you should not to. Like so, Wedding Invitation Ideas has come up with some insight into the Dos of Wedding Invitations for you to keep in mind.

  1. Give Yourself Plenty of Time with the Wedding Invitations: One of the first things you do when you have decided to get married and settled on a venue is send out your wedding invites. However, as it is the first introduction, it should be one that gives off a good impression, therefore spend some time thinking about the theme of the wedding, how the design related to other elements and make it aesthetically pleasing.
  2. Be Organised: organised yourself and your wedding invitations. Have a plan and decide how your wedding invitations bundle will be presented, especially if you have accompaniments such as maps, accommodations and reply cards.
  3. Get Help: Find people who can help you with the various tasks involved in getting your wedding invitations ready. It can sometimes be overwhelming and a fresh set of eyes can sometimes spot things that you might have overlooked.
  4. Guest List: The guest list is very important, as that is the final list of whom you want to invite. However, getting the names and titles right is also very important, down to the spelling and how it is presented in terms of wedding invitations etiquette.
  5. RSVP Your Guest: If RSVPs have not been received before the deadline that was specified in your wedding invitations, attempt to contact them to confirm their attendance, as it might cause issues on your special day if you have not accounted for certain guest who had not RSVPed but did show up for the wedding.
  6. Save The Date Cards: If you are sending save the date cards, include postage feeds in the wedding invitations budget as it is in the same family of stationery. Your save the date cards are often the from the same design theme of the wedding stationery you are planning to use.
  7. Important Information: Include the venue information, timing of both ceremony and reception, with the hour of the ceremony clearly mentioned as a formal note.
  8. Have Contingencies: Order an approximate of twenty invites extra in case mistakes are made or you wish to expand the guest list.

With these few dos for your wedding invitations, you will find that wedding planning can be a breeze. Stay tuned for next week’s article on The Don’ts of Wedding Invitations.

Clean and Modern Wedding Invitations

written by Isabella - Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Tastes differ from person to person, and when it comes to wedding planning, the same scenario will apply. Some couples agree on decisions but when it comes to various factors of the wedding, they may have their own tastes and ideas on how they should be, for example, the wedding invitations.

When it comes to choosing a design that speaks to you, it might involve a lot of time spent on browsing various choices. However, if you could list elements you would like to include in the design and compromise to agree, which would be the best course of action.  You could also opt for clean and modern wedding invitations that tend to mix and match elements as well as utilise designs that are bold but not overpowering the objective of sending out an invite. Let us look at ways in which you could add some ‘oomph’ into clean and modern wedding invitations.

Abstracts portray a modern look, especially if you use the right colours. Working best with contrasting colours, you can opt for lines or stripes, circles or polka dots, shapes and illustrations, provided they be laid neatly and in a clean manner on the wedding invitation itself. With concern to treatments used with abstract designs, what you opt for is to highlight areas of your invite by making it look special, either with embossing, engraving and even foil printing.

Mosaics that use basic shapes and photographs are making a hit in the industry. If you take circles or squares, by placing them randomly within a scope, you could arrive at a beautiful design for your clean and modern wedding invitations. If you use photographs, for example, in black and white or sepia, you could feature the couple in romantic poses and convey the love they hold for each other.

Another way to create a clean but modern look would be to add colour infusions as well as typography into the equation. By using the focal point as the base colour, which can be either light or dark, you can either use colours of the typography to highlight the significant part, or opt for font with sizing, or mixing fonts that are similar to highlight the important content. This way, not only is it clean, but also always interesting, as you are playing with the words. Add some invitation wording that is important to you and your fiancé, and soon you will have delightful wedding invitations in your hands.

Wedding Invitations and the Right Choice of Paper

written by Isabella - Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Wedding invitations sets your wedding day in stone, because not only does it make a statement out of a particular day the bride will walk down the aisle make an already happy man, happier. And in the same way, the theme of your wedding will transcend from what will be featured on the wedding invitations and into the stationery, décor, attire and other design elements of the wedding too. Finding the right feel and look for your wedding invitations is an important step in planning your wedding.

DreamDay Invitations offers you several options of paper for you to choose from, the Ivory Cotton paper to Textured Linen, and Star Dream Crystal Paper in the luxury range. The Smooth Ivory and Textured Linen paper range are the eco-friendly options of recycled paper at 30% PCW (Post Consumer Waste) offered by DreamDay Invitations.

Depending on the colour you choose, the vibrancy of the design is influenced in the final look. If you choose a darker or bolder colour, the colour is most vibrant with the Star Dream Crystal paper as well as holds the most shine. It also comes with a slight texture, therefore providing you with the lovely feel and look as well. In terms of the classic smooth ivory paper, you tend to have a slight ivory tinge as opposed to stark white (if your design has white included), and it does not have a texture. When it comes to light hues in the design of your wedding invitations, the DreamDay Invitations paper choices tend to have the following looks, where the ivory paper is tinged while the textured linen and star dream crystal paper is closest to white or the intended colour. Therefore, keep this in mind when selecting the option of paper against your wedding invitation design choices, because the final output might vary.

If you are opting for vintage wedding invitations, and the slight yellow tinge is necessary for that authentic vintage look and feel, then the best option is to use smooth ivory paper. However, if you were looking for a crisp effect, with the likes of white being the dominant colour, then either textured linen or DreamDay Invitations’ Star Dream Crystal paper would be ideal. The crystal paper also has a certain shine, and gives off a luxurious look.

In terms of the handmade wedding invitations offered by DreamDay Invitations, they will turn out according to your specifications. After making an appointment with a designer, you may discuss the options available as per your design vision and DreamDay Invitations will make it come true.

Regal Wedding Invitations for a Royal Touch

written by Isabella - Thursday, November 3, 2011

A wedding is supposed to be a once in a lifetime event, and that being so, you want it to be everything you ever dreamed off.  You might reminisce the times when you played with your dolls, and envisioned a grand wedding, one fit for a princess, and that has always been what you wanted for your actual wedding too. Today, we look into how your wedding can possess a royal touch and we do it by adding a few touches of pizzazz here and there, starting with regal wedding invitations.

When you think of regal wedding invitations, it does not necessarily mean designs overflowing with gold accents, but it is really about how and where you use those accents to portray a look that is elegant and also majestic. The easiest way to do this is by opting for foil treatment for the wedding invitations, either on the base with a different and maybe more sublet design on top, or you could use the foil treatment on a design that complements a royal look.

Apart from using gold, silver or bronze foiling, you can opt for more modest yet regal look with the use of patterns that are rich in look, and by coupling it with design elements such as borders for wordings and so forth. With such elements, you can use various colours to make it relevant to your wedding, whilst maintaining a regal look.

For most Indian or Hindu wedding invitations, it is a custom for the wedding invitations to be bold and majestic. With gold being a major colour option, you may opt to mix and match varying patterns with gold foiling and add a tinge of colour to match your theme, be it turquoise, emerald green or even red, which is a popular option. Either way, a regal wedding invitation would be fitting. However, that is not all, to achieve a majestic look; you might want to consider handmade or embellished wedding invitations that evoke the same regal effect.

Sometimes, finding the right balance between design and wording can make or break a wedding invite, so when it comes to regal wedding invitations it is important to make sure that it is not overdone. An elegant touch would be the best option, with tinged of gold to add a touch of pizzazz and the right typography of font will take it to the next level. As so, a regal wedding invitation is not too far away, especially when you have already built castles in the sky and planning a wedding fit for a princess.

Illustrated Wedding Invitations

written by Isabella - Monday, October 24, 2011

Most people start on their wedding planning as soon as they get engaged and if you have just recently become engaged, then ‘Congratulations’ to you and your fiancé.  The essence of the initial stages of planning for the wedding involves figuring out a date, where some couple opt to send out Save the Date Cards, the venue and the guest list. Now, even for you to send out the Save the Date cards for the wedding, you should have a good idea on who you are going to invite, via wedding invitation, so that you don’t face any embarrassment later on when reviewing the guests you sent out your save the date cards and the list that you want to send out your wedding invitations to.

You’re excited, happy and stressed at the same time. There is just so much to do to plan for the wedding and you aren’t even sure where to start. You want everything to be perfect, yet unique. Invite them to a luncheon. It can even be held at your own home. Have a list ready of the tasks that need to be done and see who will volunteer to take on some of these tasks. You should list items like the decorations, reserving the wedding arena, reserving the reception location, ordering the food, and making phone calls. After the guest list is ready, someone will need to verify information and addresses.

Save the Wedding Invitations for Yourself

There are a few things that need to be done only by you and your fiancé. First, of course, you will want to get the guest list ready so that when the invitations arrive, they can be mailed on time. Then you want to pick where you will be married and where the reception will be held. Last, but not least will be the rings and the invitations.

Picking out wedding invitations that match your “chic” style is simple and easy. You don’t have to run around town to different wedding organizers, print shops, or card shops. There are websites with thousands of designs to choose from.  Vintage, traditional, floral, funky, elegant and seasonal are just a very few of the categories. You can choose from different styles, colours and shapes. The welcome cards, place cards, direction and accommodation cards, and any of your other stationary needs can all be ordered at the same time and delivered with 3-4 days. It’s that simple. No fuss, no muss, no hassle.

black and silver wedding invitations

written by admin - Wednesday, June 8, 2011

You know something that keeps coming back in style like a boomerang? Black and silver used in wedding elements all over the world, that’s what! But it’s not just Australia, you will find these colours everywhere from the decor of table arrangements and of course not forgetting an important factor in all weddings, yes; I am talking about wedding invitations.

The great thing about black and silver with wedding invitations is that the possibilities are endless. You can find invites of any shape and size, but with these two colour couplings, the way you bring together the final outlook in presentations is just marvelous.  You have design styles that sprout from the middle ages and even the Egyptian era of Cleopatra mingling with guests as they receive your wedding invite and find themselves in awe of the design. With the silver that will be coupled with black, you find yourself with that added ‘oomph’ that many people are looking for when they do not want to restrict  one of their important wedding elements from looking too simple. Silver allows you to have that shimmer, maybe via foil printing or glitter embossing if that is a possibility.

So what can you do when you choose black and silver for your wedding theme, and ultimately the important pieces of paper that represents your wedding (apart from the marriage certificate itself)? Well, there are so many ways in which that presentation can come together. It all depends on your choice of size. Do you want it to be square, rectangle, or maybe in a shape that is different from everything. Do you want folded, or pocket wedding invitations, which allows you to include your other wedding stationery that accompanies your invite in a neat and tidy manner. Do you have some inspiration for your theme, something that will help in ensuring your design comes together in a perfect flow? These are just some things that you need to think and consider when you are planning your wedding stationery. And once you do, it’s time to shop.

Shopping for black and silver wedding invitations can actually go down in a few ways. One way is to sift through some designs that are available, and if you are lucky you can even customise them to your liking and even start printing your guests name together with your order. The other way of going about it, is having professionals make it for you, to your liking in a perfectly orchestrated plan. Or you could make it yourself, adding your personal touch. Now that you’ve found yourself some insight into what you can do, you are set to start on your adventure for your wedding invitations. Good luck!

Wedding Invitation Etiquette Ideas.

written by Jenny - Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Weddings are such pleasant and traditional affair, as you bask in the love of the happy couple and their nuptials, and as family and friends meet and mingle with one another wedding etiquette is an important point to remember. From the way you word your invite to the inclusion of various elements, there is much to ponder on and DreamDay Invitations offers you the simple feature on our website to customise them at will, and also have them proofed to make sure that everything is in order.

So what does wedding invitation etiquette actually entail? First off you have to consider who will be inviting the guests. That is, who is indeed hosting and also paying for the wedding. This person, or people, should be given the honour of inviting your family and friends to this joyous occasion. There are various ways to word it of course, depending on who is hosting the ceremony and reception. According to wedding invitation etiquette, there can be several parties who can be considered as the inviting hosts, and DreamDay Invitations allows you to choose which party will be mentioned as the host via customising the invitation wording prior to printing. Let’s look at the various ways in which you can do so by means of the parties hosting the event;

-          Bride’s parents

-          Groom’s parents

-          Bride & Groom

-          Both parents

The above are the customary parties that are involved, but there can be instances if the family is larger, which involves step parents, grandparents and even other relatives helping out with the financials, you can opt to include them in the wedding invitation etiquette by honouring their name.  Let’s look at how DreamDay Invitations offers by default on its wedding invitation with etiquette in mind;

Mr and Mrs Frank Turner request the pleasure of the company of “guest’s name” at the Marriage of their daughter

However, there are many things to consider apart from the honorific mentions. You should also look into things out of the norm. For example, the best way to address the invitation when inviting an unmarried couple would be to include the woman’s name first. When you are inviting a whole family to your wedding which could for instance include either two brothers or two sisters, then the older sibling’s name should appear first. However, if they are both over eighteen years old, then each should receive their own invite and if you wish you can also include a partner, as their plus one in the form of “Mr. John Smith and Guest”.

If however the bride and groom are organising and paying for their own wedding, then the invitation should come from them only.

“Samantha Jane Moors(Bride name) and Justin Jack White(Groom name) request the pleasure of the company of ……….”

You can add parents names by adding “daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Moors’ or ‘Son of Mrs and Mrs Jack White’ after each of the bride and groom names if you wish to acknowledge your parents.

There are many options and different arrangements you can use to word your wedding invitations. What you choose will depend upon your own circumstances and wishes, and will be different for everyone.

As long as you word it politely it can be traditional or more modern wordings, but remember to organise and prepare carefully in plenty of time before you order your wedding invitations. Reprints can be costly exercise if you don’t get it right the first time.

DreamDay Invitations makes all this easy for you, for your comfort, all at your fingertips.
